Preview: Issue 19
The latest issue of The Lyme Report goes out to subscribers tomorrow and in it I’ll be exploring the impact of Lyme disease on Canadian children, the connection between Morgellons disease and Borrelia bacteria, and the potential for breaking the cycle of Lyme in nature.
FEATURE: No one ever wants to see children fall ill and when the cause is Lyme disease, the consequences can be devastating. In tomorrow’s bi-monthly feature, I’ll examine what several Canadian research papers have to say about how Lyme disease is impacting our children and — spoiler alert — it isn’t pretty.
ANALYSIS: I’ll confess to knowing next to nothing about Morgellons disease, so I was surprised to discover that there appears to be a strong connection between it and Borrelia bacteria. We’ll take a look at a recent paper highlighting that connection and what it could mean for determining Morgellons’ stages.
ANALYSIS: One of the best ways to mitigate the human risk of acquiring Lyme disease is to develop methods to disrupt the transmission cycle in nature. I’ll take you through a recent Canadian paper looking into the efficacy of treating mice with acaricides in an effort to keep a lid on tick populations and the diseases they carry.
NEWS BRIEFS: A tick expert shares her thoughts on ticks, Lyme, and an early Maritime spring and a Canadian Lyme disease conference is scheduled (COVID-19 willing) for this June.
